BOARD OF DIRECTORS
James Huang
James Huang brings over 30 years of experience in the healthcare industry across Asia and the US as a member of ANIVIA Medical’s board of directors since 2018. He is the Founding Managing Partner of Panacea Venture, where he leads investments in life science companies. Prior to founding Panacea, James held Managing Partner roles at Kleiner Perkins and Vivo Ventures, as well as senior positions at leading healthcare companies such as Tularik, GlaxoSmithKline, Bristol-Meyers Squibb, and ALZA Corp. James has a proven track record of success in business development, marketing, and R&D functions. He holds an M.B.A. from Stanford Graduate School of Business and a B.S. degree in chemical engineering from the University of California, Berkeley.
Henry Lin, Ph.D.
Dr. Henry Lin is a co-founder and CEO of ANIVIA Medical, With a background in innovative medical technology. He brings extensive knowledge and expertise to the company. He has successfully executed multiple first-in-human clinical studies globally, showcasing his ability to effectively bridge the gap between technical and medical teams. Throughout his career, Dr. Lin has demonstrated a proven track record of securing multi-million-dollar investments from reputable institutional investors. He holds a Ph.D. in Medicine from the University of Queensland, Australia and a Master’s degree in Biotechnology. In addition, he has completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School and holds an A.L.M. in Management from Harvard University, where he was honored with a distinguished academic achievement award.
Alex Lu
Alex Lu stands as one of the initial individual investors in ANIVIA Medical, showcasing extensive investment and operational expertise spanning medical technology, real estate, and high-tech sectors across the Pacific. Currently holding the position of Board Director at Keetai Properties Co., Ltd. (TWSE: 2538), Alex’s professional journey includes co-founding and leading business development at Splashtop Inc. in California, a prominent provider of remote management solutions. Preceding his role at Splashtop Inc., he held various business development positions at Applied Materials Inc., a global leader in semiconductor equipment provision. Alex holds an MBA from Drexel University in Philadelphia and a BS in Chemical Engineering from Tunghai University in Taiwan.
Nikki Zhang
Nikki Zhang is a partner of Panacea Venture, leading life sciences and healthcare investments globally. She joined ANIVIA Medical’s board of director in July 2023. Nikki has extensive experience in healthcare venture investment, biotech and medical device sectors. Before joining Panacea Venture, Nikki was a director at Kleiner Perkins China, where she led life sciences investments and portfolio management. Prior to Kleiner Perkins, Nikki worked at Zimmer Biomet Inc., where she took multiple leadership roles to manage the company’s global trauma business, business development and M&A. Earlier in her career, Nikki was a business development manager at HutchMed, where she specialized in corporate strategic planning, global licensing and alliance & partnership management. Nikki holds an M.B.A. from The Fuqua School of Business of Duke University. She also received an M.A. in Biotechnology from Columbia University and a B.S. in Biochemistry from The University of Texas at Austin.
INDEPENDENT DIRECTORS
Leroy Yau
Leroy is a seasoned executive with over two decades of experience in managing large corporations and nurturing growth in emerging businesses. His multi-disciplinary experience spans business innovation, corporate governance, enterprise risk management, cybersecurity, and venture building. Before establishing 43 Ventures, Leroy was a partner at EY, where he led the consulting practice in Taiwan and held various management roles within the Greater China practice. He has held board positions in start-ups and charity foundations and has served as an ordinary member of the Market Misconduct Tribunal in Hong Kong. A graduate with degrees in computer/electronic engineering, law, and education, Leroy is a fellow member of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants and CPA Australia.
Thomas Wang
Thomas Wang served as Special Assistant to President &Financial Controller of Wellmei (BVI) Holding Limited from June 2018 to December 2021 and as an advisor of Wellmei (BVI) Holding Limited from March 2022 to now. Prior to that, he served at PTS (Cayman) Holding Limited as Special Assistant to President &Financial Controller from June 2012 to May 2018. He also served at a variety of executive management positions in Asia nearly 20 years. Thomas holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Tunghai University in Taiwan、The advanced ESG certification and license of Securities and Futures Commission in Hong Kong.
Dr. Jack Hsiao
Dr. Jack Hsiao, an independent director at ANIVIA Medical, leads the HCC Healthcare Group and Hospitals, dedicated to providing comprehensive medical and healthcare services to Taiwan’s elderly population. A fervent advocate for e-hospital concepts, Dr. Hsiao holds pivotal leadership roles in the e-healthcare industry, contributing to organizations such as OmniHealth Group in Boston, WebMD syndication in Taiwan, and notably, the Ministry of Health and Welfare’s Telecare Pilot Project. With an M.D./Ph.D. degree from Boston University, he not only imparts knowledge on medical ethics and informatics at the National Yang-Ming Chiao-Tung University but also remains devoted to ongoing medical research and innovation.

John Gilbert, Ph.D.
Dr. John Gilbert is a co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of ANIVIA Medical, where he also serves on the Board of Directors. With over 50 issued U.S. patents and extensive experience as both a founding CEO and CTO, Dr. Gilbert is a specialist in start-up operations, technology assessment, regulation, IP creation, and business model development in the medical technology industry. He played a pivotal role in inventing ANIVIA Medical‘s extracorporeal platform technology and establishing the company’s intellectual property portfolio. Dr. Gilbert holds an A.B. and M.A. from Harvard University, a Ph.D. in physics from the California Institute of Technology, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Lim Cheung, Ph.D.
Dr. Lim Cheung has 20+ years’ experience in medical device development in radiology and minimally invasive surgeries. He oversaw every stage from concept, R&D, engineering, manufacturing, quality, regulatory affairs, clinical trials to business operations at both large multinationals and small ventures. In previous roles as head of R&D, patent inventor, and chief designer at Hologic and Smith & Nephew in Boston, Dr. Cheung led teams that developed products generating billions of dollars in cumulative revenue and profit. He has a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the California Institute of Technology and a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Maryland. He held research positions at NASA and Harvard University.
Alex Hong
Alex Hong is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities of the organization, managing our staff, and ensuring that our operations are aligned with our business goals. Alex Hong has past experience in successfully IPO in Taiwan and has good communication and cross-department coordination skills. Alex Hong has also served as an operator in biotechnology-related industries and has extensive experience. Once served as the financial director of HuWen (TWD: 2433) and worked at Deloitte.
Daniel Lai
Daniel Lai is the Director of Marketing at ANIVIA Medical. He has 28 years of marketing experience in the medical industry, specializing in product/market development strategies, key opinion leader management, and team and leadership development. Prior to joining ANIVIA Medical, Daniel held senior positions at Johnson & Johnson Medical Taiwan, Medishine Enterprise, and Macromed Biomedical. He has led successful new product launches and distributor management, resulting in significant growth for the companies he served. Daniel holds an MBA and LLM in Intellectual Property Rights Program.
FINANCE AND ACCOUNTING
Kathleen Lin
Kathleen is our Finance Director at ANIVIA Medical Group, responsible for leading the accounting and finance function, including reviewing accounting books, financial reports, and tax returns, managing budgeting, forecasting, and day-to-day cash flow. With five years of experience at Deloitte & Touche Taiwan, Kathleen is an expert in TIFRS and establishing company internal control policies. She also has strong communication and interpersonal skills and is a skilled presenter, having been elected as one of the best lecturers for Deloitte freshman orientation. Kathleen earned dual degrees in accounting and management information systems from Taiwan National Chengchi University, obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Business Administration. She also obtained a TOEIC golden certificate at graduation.
Audit Office
Kenneth Lee
Kenneth is our Audit Manager responsible for maintaining the effectiveness of the Group’s internal control system and ensuring legal compliance. With over ten years of experience in accounting and auditing, he has helped a KY company successfully IPO in Taiwan while serving as Audit Manager. Kenneth holds a degree in Accounting from Soochow University, Taiwan.

John Gilbert, Ph.D.
Dr. John Gilbert is a co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of ANIVIA Medical, where he also serves on the Board of Directors. John Sasso
John is a skilled professional responsible for day-to-day project management of product development, manufacturing operations, and quality activities, as well as serving as the Management Representative and Person Responsible for Regulatory Compliance (PRRC). With previous experience at Radi Medical Systems, Haemonetics, Neoventa Medical, Strohl Medical Technologies, and Q-Urology, John has a successful track record of integrating project management methodologies and commercializing medical devices from both domestic and foreign manufacturers. John is also experienced in international business and has brought two foreign medical device companies into the United States, one of which grew to $28M in annual revenues. John received his B.S.E.E. and M.S.E.E. from Tufts University and his M.B.A from Bentley College, graduating as the Class Valedictorian.
Rui Lam
Rui is responsible for bringing the Anivia Pro Catheter to market, overseeing every aspect of its development, manufacturing, and regulatory affairs.
Albert Lau
Albert is one of the key members of the Anivia SG1000 extracorporeal system development team and has extensive expertise in technical, quality, and regulatory matters.
Zhe-Qing Ho
ZQ is an Embedded Hardware and Software Engineer with 22 years of experience in various roles such as QE, PE, IE, and R&D. He is highly knowledgeable in electronic product manufacturing processes and has extensive experience in product design and development.
Chih-Hsiang Hsieh
CH has extensive knowledge in mechanical design and machining processes. He also has experience and expertise in quality, regulatory, manufacturing aspects of medical device development.
